  • On December 19, Shanghai Stock Exchange was officially moved into its new location in Lujiazui-the Shanghai Securities Exchange Building for business. On the same day, the China Shanghai Talents Market was also moved east to Lujiazui.
  • On December 10, approved by Shanghai Municipality and registered at Shanghai Administrative Bureau for Industry and Commerce, the former Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Development Company was renamed as Shanghai Lujiazui Development (Group) Co., Ltd, with Wang Ande as its legal person.
  • On December 5, ground breaking ceremony was held of the Shanghai Aquarium which is located in the Lujiazui Central Financial District, and Singapore Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew attended the ceremony.
  • On November 2, accompanied by Mayor Xu Kuangdi, those world-renowned entrepreneurs visited the Lujiazui Central Green, who came to Shanghai to attend the ninth annual meeting of the International Business Leader's Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai.
  • On August 28, the main-construction-roofed ceremony was held of Jin Mao Building, highest in China and third highest in the world.
  • On August 27, ground breaking ceremony was held of the 94-stored Shanghai World Financial Center invested jointly by Forest Overseas Co., Ltd., OECF and other thirty-five Japanese banks, insurance companies and trading companies.
  • On July 8, ground breaking ceremony was held of the Lujiazui-Itochu Development Building jointly invested by Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Development Co., Ltd. and Japan Itochu Corporation.
  • On July 7, the land use right of the plot 2-1-3 of the Lujiazui Zhuyuan Commercial and Trade Subzone was transferred to Shanghai Worldbest Co., Ltd., Hong Kong Hongtex (Holdings) Co., Ltd. and Luoyang Dong Chen (Group) Co., Ltd.
  • On June 22, consuls general from all the foreign consulates in Shanghai were present at the briefing on the development of Lujiazui.
  • On June 5, Mayor Xu Kuangdi visited Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone to inspect the constructing process of Central Green land and Riverside Avenue and put forward some requirements for the project construction.
  • On May 28, construction of Lujiazui Garden Taolin Center which covers an area of 66,000 square meters was started. Lujiazui Garden covers an area of 200,000 square meter, with a total construction area of 126,000 square meters.
  • On April 21, the Dai-ichi Kangyo Bank Shanghai Branch moved in Pudong Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone. Several foreign banks have so far established their branches, such as Citibank, the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corp., Bank of Tokyo and Mitsubishi Ltd., the Industrial Bank of Japan, the Sanwa Bank and the International Bank of Paris and Shanghai.
  • On April 17, Shanghai United Development Co., Ltd. for Huangpu River Pedestrian Tunnels was founded. The company will be responsible for construction of Huangpu River Pedstrian Tunnels.
  • On April 15, the inauguration ceremony of Yuqiao Garden Mingle Center was solemnly held. Mingle Center was awarded the Gold Prize for Urban Residential Area by the National Construction Ministry.
  • On March 31, Hong Kong's Goldome Development Corporation and Shanghai East Golden Horse Real Estate Co., Ltd. signed the land use rights transfer contract for Plot B4-2 and Plot B4-3 respectively.
  • On March 25, Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Development Co., Ltd. and Israel's United Development Incorporated initialed the joint venture contract for the establishment of Shanghai Diamond Jewelry Exchange Center Co., Ltd.
  • On March 18, Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Development Co. and China Real Estate Association co-sponsored a seminar for the training of senior personnel on property management.
  • On March 9, Mr. Huang Ju, Secretary of Municipal Committee, Mrs. Chen Zhili, Mr. Wang Liping, Mr. Chen Liangyu, Mr. Meng Jianzhu (vice secretaries of the Municipal Committee) and Vice Mayor Mr. Xia Keqiang and Mr. Feng Guoqin took active part in planting in the Central Green Land.
  • On March 4, Shanghai City United Bank signed the land use rights transfer contract for Plot B2-4, becoming the ninth bank which has invested to build its office building in the Lujiazui Central Financial District.
  • On February 28, Lujiazui Central Financial District Administration Committee was founded.
