Jing An District is located in the downtown of Shanghai. In this 7.62 square-kilometre land, the district boasts its thousand-year-old Jing An Temple as well as its flourishing Nanjing Xi Road. Jing An is facing rare historic opportunities in the upsurge of reform and opening to the outside world.
In accordance with Shanghai's strategic objective of economic development, Jing An District orients its function to the simultaneous development of commerce and trade. Through cultivating a big market, Jing An District develops its tertiary industry with commerce and trade as the main body and the real estate trade and intermediary services as the flank. It also launches an overall urban construction concentrating on the comprehensive development of Nanjing Road in its area, so as to build up a basic framework for a first-rate central district of a modern international metropolis by 1997.
