Daughter of the Party(Dang De Nu'er , C-1958, VC)---A Red Army soldier, who gets separated from his daughter while retreating on the Long March, recognizes her at a meeting 20 years later, when he has risen through the ranks to become a general. Decisive Campaigns (I)(Da Juezhan, C-1991)---Made by the August First Film Studio, this is the first part of an 11-hour epic about People's liberation Army's struggles against the Kuomintang. More than 100 political and military figures are portrayed , including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Lin Biao on the Chinese Communist Party side and Chiang Kai-shek, Wei Lihuang, Liao Yaoxiang and Du Yuming on the KMT side during this historical reenactment of the Liaoxi-Shenyang campaign, a gigantic battle fought by the Northeast Field Army in the wester5n part of Liaoning Province and in the Shenyang-Changchun area in late 1948. Decisive Campaigns(II)(Da Junzhan, C-1991)---Part Two of this 11-hour epic is about the Huai-Hai campaign, which centred on Xuzhou and extended as far as Haizhou in the east, Shangqiu in the west, Lincheng (now Xuecheng) in the north and the Huai River in the south, cutting large swath through Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui and hennan provinces. Dragon's Beard Ditch(Lingxugou, BW-1952)---Based on a play of the same title by Lao she, a well-known contemporary writer, this movie is about residents who transform a district of evil smelling ditches into a clean and beautiful neighbourhood . Dream of Red Mansion(Hong Lou Meng, C-1989, VC)---Adapted from the Chinese classic, " A Dream of Red Mansions, " by Cao Xueqin (1715-1763), this eight-part saga centres around the tragic love story of Jia Baoyu and his cousin Lin Daiyu.
