Oscar de la Renta was born of Spanish parents in Santo Domingom in the Dominican Republic. During his youth, he went to study art in Madrad, Spain and started designing for clothing companies. In 1963, he went to New York and worked as designer with Elisabeth Arden, and in 1966, he founded his own fashion designing and making company at 550 , 7th Ave., New York. |

In January, 1993, Oscar de la Renta, the world famous master designer of women's fashion, came to work with Pierre Balmain & Co. in a high fashion exhibition, and stayed with them from then on. |
